Educational Activities

Farm Tours
  • ​The students tour the farm, learn about the various plants and harvest fresh produce from the varied garden sections.
  • Discuss our small insects and learn about their role in the garden. 
  • Learn to gently touch the plants and smell their natural fragrance.
  • Students help to plant seedlings and other maintenance jobs.
  • They are encouraged to start growing and are giving select seedlings and may receive a packet of vegetable and/or flowers seeds to start a garden of their own.​
Picking String Beans and Peppers
During the students visit, they learned when and how to pick the various types of String Beans and Peppers. They were given the opportunity to enjoy some of the fresh produce we just picked.
​Afterwards, the students helped with garden maintenance.

When to Pick Corn and Cantaloupe
The students learned to identify when corn and cantaloupe are ripe and ready to pick. Several students picked corn. We also enjoyed ripe cherry tomatoes.

Tomato and Cucumber Picking / Tasting
The students will get the opportunity to enjoy a variety of different types of tomatoes and cucumbers.
  • Purple, Lemon, Pink, Indigo, Cherry, other types of tomatoes
  • Regular, White, Straight Eight, and Pickle Cucumbers
  • Taste testing with a little fresh green or purple basil.
